"Give Us WINGS - Let Us Fly" is a state/federally-funded 21st Century Community Learning Center Project in the middle grades of four schools in Holmes County, six schools of Jackson and the two middle schools in Washington County. This 3-county program is being administered through the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC) in Chipley. WINGS - Winning Intellectually aNd Gaining Safety - is a before- and after-school program that provides a safe, supervised environment for middle schoolers where they receive a nutritious snack, homework help, enrichment activities, field trips, summer enrichment program, and transportation home four days a week. Along with providing services for middle school students, WINGS also offers a community family resource center, parental involvement activities, and basic technology assistance. WINGS collaborates with Literacy Volunteers of America (LVA), PAEC Migrant Education, Chipola College Reach Out Program (CROP), and the adult education center in Holmes, Jackson and Washington County with referrals and common activities. Each middle school within these counties has been opened up to the community; families of all WINGS students are invited to come in and participate in the services offered by the WINGS program.
