Charlotte Danielson is highly regarded as one of the nation’s leading experts on teacher professional practice and performance evaluations. Since a major component of the Race to the Top (RTTT) initiative must address performance evaluation for teachers, participants are afforded the opportunity of Ms. Danielson’s expertise to guide their efforts in developing a proposal. Topics for this event include:
  • The importance of teacher quality
  • The professional nature of teaching
  • The relationship between the system for teacher evaluation and district negotiations
  • The principles of professional learning, and building procedures to promote it
  • The three-track model
  • "Inputs" vs. "outputs" as measures of teacher effectiveness
The Framework for Teaching components of Professional Practice will also be highlighted that will include: Planning and Preparation, The Classroom Environment, Professional Responsibilities, and Instruction.
