Welcome to Doing What Works: Reading. This is a companion website for the Doing What Works: Effective Technology in the Classroom broadcast. Some of the files on this website require Acrobat Reader or RealPlayer (look for the link to the free RealPlayer). The following sections are included in this website:

Resources - Handouts, electronics books on reading, and links to a variety of Internet resources.

Components of Reading - Here you will find more information on the software demonstrated in on the broadcast, as well as additional software. The sections are divided up into Intervention, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.

Activities/Inservice (Action Research) - This activity will guide you through a process of identifying your students' needs, reviewing the research on reading and instruction, and then designing and implementing an action research project on reading technology in the classroom.

Software - A general list of software that supports reading in the classroom.

Downloads - Software that can be downloaded and used in the classroom. Some of the programs are trial/demo programs and some are freeware.
