Do technology tools make a difference? Absolutely! The more a student can self-customize a variety of technology tools in a problem solving activity, the higher the chance of success. Spreadsheets are just one example, providing tools that support data analysis and decision making in real world and simulated environments. And for students with disabilities, effective technology tools can be critical. The FDLRS Technology Coordinating Unit (FDLRS/TECH) provides FDLRS network technology resources through statewide coordination and delivery of information; support, coordination, and training services; identifying current technologies; and through the support of technology labs at major conferences. FDLRS/TECH serves as the state ESE technology center for assisting Florida schools and educators to prepare students with disabilities to use technology tools to achieve successful educational outcomes. Students are assisted through the investigation of appropriate assistive technology, instructional technology, and Universal Design for Learning tools that are current, available, and accessible; and through the support of Florida educators in selecting and using the best strategies and tools to increase student performance. FDLRS Technology Coordinating Unit Panhandle Area Educational Consortium FDLRS/TECH is funded as a Specialized Center by the Florida Department of Education, Division of Public Schools and Community Education, Bureau of Instructional Support and Community Services, through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Part B funds. |
