The Early Childhood Observation System (ECHOS) is a whole-child-oriented measure based on national standards in seven domains. The ECHOS portion of the FLKRS provides an overview of development in all seven areas. The key to efficient administration of the ECHOS portion of the FLKRS is to carefully plan activities that will elicit the behaviors to be observed. The teacher will find that the observable behaviors are part of the routine beginning-of-school activities and are easily integrated into lesson plans.
