Patrick L. McDaniel to assume leadership of PAEC upon retirement of long-time executive director, Paula Lovett Waller.
PAEC's board of directors has named Patrick L. McDaniel, risk manager of its Risk Management Consortium, as PAEC's interim executive director when Paula Lovett Waller retires at the end of this year.

Property tax reform-light passes Legislature; billions of dollars at stake for schools
The Legislators' latest property tax reform proposal that voters will be asked to approve via a constitutional amendment next January is a light version of one adopted earlier this year, but it could still cost schools nearly $3 billion over the next five years.

PAEC science projects gain momentum
Professional development opportunities for science teachers abound as science teachers from Pensacola to Perry reaped benefits during the past two weeks of Science Partnership Projects.

PAEC sponsors another Classroom Walk Through Training
On October 23, principals, assistant principals and aspiring principals from Gadsden, Leon, Taylor, Wakulla, and Washington counties met at the Wakulla Education Center in Crawfordville, Florida, to develop their leadership skills by participating in Classroom Walk Through Training (CWT).

The Division of Career Development and Transition holds 14th International Conference in Orlando
On Oct. 17-20, PAEC's Rusty Holmes and June Logue attended the DCDT's 14th International Conference in Orlando. A division of the Council for Exceptional Children, the DCDT is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Smart classrooms for smart teachers
The smart classroom idea has been around for nearly ten years. Some school districts have implemented them, but few of these classrooms make the most of the technology they are so fortunate to have.

FAME's finale
PAEC has sent the last load of supplies to the participants in the FloridaLearns Math Expert (FAME) Project. The materials should arrive before they are needed for FCAT prep.

www.paec.org passes milestone
