Strategies That Work
(A collection of down-to-earth strategies for real teachers in real schools.)
This book contains a collection of strategies that can be used in the
classrooms of today. The ideas in this book were not born in an ivory tower,
neither were they proposed by people who have never had to “make do” with
inadequate supplies. The ideas found here have been used by real teachers in real
classrooms. Not every idea will work in every situation, but we trust teachers to
have the common sense to know which ones will work in the classes they teach.
It is our hope that our readers discover some ideas in this collection that will
enhance the teaching and learning in their classrooms, making their teaching
experiences more enjoyable and rewarding.
For convenience sake, this document is separated into three
segments. Section A contains strategies that are appropriate for use in elementary
school. Section B contains middle school strategies and Section C contains
strategies more appropriate for high school use. Of course, many of the best
strategies work at all three levels and therefore are included in all three sections.
It is an honor to be able to serve the teachers of Florida. We are
aware of what you do and how important you are to our state and our nation.
There is no group of professionals more able to affect our future.
