The PAEC Patriot Project (P3) includes 37 Grade 5 American History Teachers and their mentors in a three year program that provides intensive training in both the content and pedagogy included in teaching American History. Resources, materials and field experiences are all part of the project which seeks to improve student achievement by increasing teacher content knowledge. The PAEC Patriot Project, a Teaching American History Grant, was awarded to PAEC in July of 2008 in the amount of $999,994.00. The nearly million dollar grant will continue until July 2011. Districts that provided commitment and support letters for the grant proposal include: Calhoun, FAMU, Franklin, Gadsden, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton and Washington. Twelve of these districts have teachers that are actively involved in the project. In addition, there was space available for teachers from select schools in Bay and Gulf Counties to participate.
