Course Title: Feedback: A Powerful Tool for Raising Student Achievement in Language Arts

Course Requirements: Video Program and Assessment

Course Description: In this course, participants will learn to use current research to connect specific feedback on formative tasks to increase student achievement. They will gain a greater understanding of the critical link between recognizing the intent of outcomes, the necessity of aligning formative assessments with the outcomes, and the power of descriptive feedback to improve student achievement.

Course Objectives:
1.      Identify two types of feedback - evaluative and descriptive
2.      Review research related to feedback and student
         achievement
3.      Practice creating descriptive feedback matched to standards
4.      Reflect on newly acquired knowledge and identify next steps
         for classroom applications

Course Assessment:
A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the online assessment after viewing the video program.

Additional points may be earned through completion of follow-up activities.
