Course Title: Science & CSI: Weaving Science & Math Into Lessons That Teach Kids To Think

Course Requirements: Video Program and Assessment

Course Description: The teachable moment exists in every trend. This session will weave interest in forensics, stemming from the popular TV show CSI-Crime Scene Investigation, with science content and explore methods that work to help students apply scientific principles. This forensic science program has had success with all learners. From blood and the heart to elements and compounds, the session will use a mystery theme to integrate concepts with writing and mathematics. The focus is on science, but the techniques work in any area. The session will explore ways to teach students science and learning skills that will help them with every subject.

Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
1.      Explain the steps in observation and analysis.
2.      Explain ways to integrate strategies used in CSI with other
         subjects.
3.      Describe their experience in the modeled activities.

Course Assessment:
A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the online assessment after viewing the video program.
